END OF THE WEEK MUSINGS

SEPTEMBER 8TH MUSINGS

WHAT I AM READING—

Dream with Me: Race, Love and the Struggle We Must Win by Dr. John Perkins.

Dr. John Perkins is a practical theologian and a community developer par excellence. He is also one of my greatest inspirations. I have read any and everything he has written and I am always motivated to do more for the Kingdom of God and vulnerable communities.  This book is a clarion call for love, justice, and reconciliation.

WHAT I AM LISTENING TO—

Today is the Day: The Greatest Motivational speeches. This download from Itunes is a collection of 22 motivational speeches that I listen to on a daily basis.  As part of my morning routine, I listen to these downloads when I am working out and while I am preparing to leave my house.

WHAT I AM WORKING ON—

I am currently working on developing LLC’s for other outreach and ministry initiatives not directly related to my Non-profits mission. The harvest truly is plentiful…

WHAT I HAVE (RE) LEARNED ABOUT LIFE—

I have been reminded again and again this week of how short and precious life is. In the Richmond, VA. community, we have experienced an alarming number of homicides. Indeed, one is too many.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED ABOUT MYSELF—

The last two weeks have reminded me that I have a tendency to take on too many projects at once. I have to learn how to say “no.”

WHAT I AM REFLECTING ON—

I am continually focused on how I can be of greater service to GOD and my neighbor. I have been reflecting more and more lately on how I can scale what I am doing for greater impact.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK—

“Justice is something every generation has to strive for.” Dr. John Perkins
